It's that time of Year Again! - Immunization Records Update

Public Health has sent a notice home, in March, to those students with incomplete records. This notice will request that complete immunization records be provided to Public Health. If you receive one of these letters, please respond as soon as you can.  If you have any questions, please contact our Vaccine Preventable Diseases Program at 519-883-2006 ext. 5273.

Region of Waterloo Public Health is required to collect and analyze immunization records of all children attending school in Waterloo Region. We do this to ensure the immunization status of all children in the event of a vaccine preventable disease outbreak.

The Immunization of School Pupils Act requires students to be immunized against tetanus, diphtheria, polio, measles, mumps and rubella. These records of immunization must be provided to Public Health.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Boundary Change - September 2010

Silverheights Public School - Grade 9 students living in the Mattamy-Townline neighbourhood

Please be advised that the boundary changes approved by the Waterloo Region District School Board on June 23, 2008 for your community included a change for the secondary school from Jacob Hespeler Secondary School to Preston High School.  This means that your Grade 8 student now at Silverheights Public School will be directed to Preston High School for Grade 9 for September 2010.  Transportation to Preston High School will be provided by the WRDSB, and information in that regard will follow later in the year.

Current Grade 9 to 12 students from your neighbourhood now at JHSS are certainly entitled to complete their secondary program there and their transportation will continue until the last student is phased out.  They may also switch to PHS if families wish to have all their children at the same secondary school.

Streets that are affected in the Mattamy-Townline subdivision include:  Arthur Fach Dr, Baggs Cres, Baintree Way, Brayshaw Dr, Bugdale Dr, Coulthard Blvd, Dellgrove Cir, Garth Massey Dr, Glazebrook Cres, Goreing St, Longspur Way, Mayo Ave, Nancroft Cres, Redstart Dr, Senior Cres, Townline Rd, Zieman Cres.

Should you have any questions, please contact the WRDSB Planning Department at 519-570-0003, Ext. 4419.
